Functionally structured organizations have a low correlation to project success especially when projects extend across departments and organizational partners.

 

Al Saedan Real Estate Co was no exception. Al Saedan Real Estate Co went through a functional to projectized transformation in a planned, timely and structured way. Other organizations may not so lucky if time is not on their side, which may force an accelerated transformation to a target operating model. Moving too quickly will risk the ability to build and/or acquire the capability of adapting because of cultural, environmental, systems, processes and competency-based challenges. Consultants are often brought in to instigate the change, but we argue that PMOs with the right management support, framework, and PMO topology (structures) and can actively lead/support such transformations and ensure the expected benefits are realized in a timely way from different dimensions e.g. strategic, operational, competency, process and technical.

 

This webinar investigates an implemented transformational framework from functional to projectized organization driving and guided by a PMO expert. PMO and Project Management Maturity is discussed including a concept of a Flex-Point’ in the maturity models. New project structures are investigated that are capable of supporting PMO maturity levels beyond the ‘Flex-Point’ at levels 4 and 5. Potential challenges are highlighted that may emerge whilst progressing through the Flex-Point into the highest levels PMO maturity.
